Golden Leopard Kung Fu

There will be 9 week introductory classes starting March 16th for kids, youth, and family.  Classes are designed to introduce Choy Li Fut basics including footwork, hand and kicking techniques, and breathing exercises.  Deadline has been extended to March 12th but there are limited spaces available.

Introductory Class Times:

Cost is $99 for the 9 week session 1 day/week ($60 each additional family member in  family class).

Fee includes School T-shirt for training.  No additional cost required for this introductory session.  Follow up classes will be offered for those interested.  Class size is limited and registration must be received before March 5th.

Saturday January 30th Golden Leopard will be giving a Kung Fu demonstration in conjunction with Plum Blossom Kung Fu School downtown at the Metrodome for Twins Fest. The demonstrations will be from 11:30 – 12:00.  We will be in the Twins Diversity Area.  Hope to see you there!

Our second annual potluck has come and gone.  Thank you to all those who attended for the wonderful food and company.  It was a very nice time.  Unfortunately the weather didn’t cooperate much, but having it indoors kept everyone a little closer in proximity and made the socializing a little more personal.  I hope every enjoyed themselves and will help keep this annual event going.

The new space is not exactly complete but it is ready for training to begin.  With any luck by the end of October most of the final touches will be complete.  Grandmaster had give me recommendations for training hall colors and the such.  I would like to thank those who have give of their free time to help with the mess and grunt work portion of the build out.  With out the help we would probably still be a week or two away from getting into the new space.

We will be there again this year showing the neighborhood some Choy Li Fut.  Last year was a good time in both presenting our Kung Fu and enjoying some of the other festivities at  Bancroft Meadows Park, 42nd St. and Bloomington Ave So.  We will be holding demo / classes at the park on Wednesday July 29th.  Youth group will be on from 5;30 – 6:30 and the Adults from 6:30 – 8:00.

*Games and Activities for all and a parade (decorate your bike) at 6:30

Note to everyone participating in the demo.  First you must have uniforms and sashes for the demo.  If you are in need let me know ASAP.  If you don’t have it you can not participate.  Also I expect you will all be at class Monday and Wednesday evenings this next week.  There may also be extra days of training this week you are all encouraged to attend.  Remember you are not representing yourselves but the school and all your sihings and sijays.

Everyone mark your calendars for July 12th 1:15 pm.  Golden Leopard will be joining a number of other martial arts schools at the 2009 Dragon Boat Festival for a series of demonstrations in St. Paul at Lake Phalen.  

All those participating please arrive no later than 12:45.  Remember to leave enough time to get parking and make your way into the park to the demo site.

The 2nd Annual Chinese New Year event is quickly approaching with only  a week left to go. Last year the event went well and we received good comments from most everyone. This year should be a little more relaxed atmosphere with the Kung Fu Demo being before our get together rather than after.

The date has been set for Saturday January 24th and the demo is scheduled to start at 12:30pm with the dinner following at 2:00pm.
