Tai Chi and Health – Encouraging Articles

As technology pushes at us in every aspect of our lives from the Healthcare we receive to the toys we buy our children.  But as this is happening we continue to find “low tech” things that have proven themselves over time and continue to amaze people.  Tai Chi just happens to be one of those “things” dating back over 1,500 years.

An article on CNN was recently passed along to me and I would like to share the link.  This specific article discusses a study that was done to see what if any effects the practice of Tai Chi (Yang style in this specific study) would have on persons suffering from Fibromyalgia.  Below is a link to this article.  I have also included a link to a site that gives information on the possible benefits of practicing Tai Chi and Chi Kung.  I hope you find them as thought provoking as I do.

Virtually anyone can learn and practiced Tai Chi and Chi Kung.  There is no need to purchase the latest or most advanced of anything.  You all ready have all you will ever need to learn and practice.

    Kung Fu Weekend

Golden Leopard Martial Arts Center and Minneapolis Plum Blossom will be meeting up with Sifu Neil McRitchie from Winnipeg for a weekend of fun and Kung Fu Training in Fargo, ND.  For those a little more adventurous some attending will be camping, but for those wanting more comforts of home there will be hotel rooms reserved.  It’s been a while since this event has been open to all students, so take advantage of this opportunity to meet and train with our Kung Fu brothers and sisters.

Training will taking place on Friday July 23rd and Saturday July 24th.  Both nights weather permitting we will socialize over dinner, fire, and maybe some s’mores for dessert at the camp sites.

Anyone interested please respond ASAP (call or e-mail) so campsite or Hotel rooms can be reserved.  We can then also make arrangements for those that would like to share a ride.

Hope you can come and join in the kung fu and comradeship.

    Golden Leopard New School Location

Golden Leopards move to a new training hall in South Minneapolis is progressing.  A lease has been agreed on and the date for opening of the new location is October 1st, 2009.

The new location will be at 3920 Nicollet Ave So.  Just a few minutes from our current location.  The new location will give us better training space and the ability to expand our current class schedule.  There is a lot of work that will need to be accomplished before this date but we are very much looking forward to what this move will offer.  We will be working in the next couple weeks to get a new schedule and class list on the website.  We will also try to keep you updated on the progress.
