Golden Leopard Kung Fu

Golden Leopard would like to share a little of what we do and will be offering free trial Tai Chi classes in October.  Classes will introduce participants to basics of Yang Style Tai Chi and Chi Kung exercises.  Those interested can contact us ahead of time or just drop in.  If you chose to try a class just wear or bring a set of comfortable clothes and flat bottomed shoes, nothing else is required.

Free classes will be held Thursday evenings at 7:15.  (October 14th, 21st, and 28th)

There is absolutely no obligation and those interested can chose any evening or attend all 3 if you like.

We just finished our 3rd Annual Golden Leopard Martial Arts Center Potluck this weekend at Baker Park with an added twist.  A few of the families added a couple nights of camping at the group site.  We had a great time with our Kung Fu family sharing a meal and some personal time on Saturday at the Potluck.  Some also enjoyed a couple nights staying warm by the campfire and having a s’more or 2 or 3.  Thank you to all those that could attend for helping make this a very enjoyable and filling weekend.  We hope all those that attended feel the same.  Hope to see everyone that was there and more next year!

Kung Fu Classes:

• Beginner – Monday and Wednesday    6:15 – 7:15
• Advanced – Thursday    7:00 – 8:00
• Open Class – Saturday    10:00 – 11:00

Kids Beginner  Kung Fu Classes: (12 week session)

• Tuesday   4:00 – 4:45 / 5:00 – 5:45
• Wednesday    3:00 – 3:45  Homeschool Class

Tai Chi Classes:

• Beginner – Thursday    7:00 – 8:00 / Saturday (morning) 9:00 – 10:00

A great time was had by all who attended our long over due Choy Li Fut training weekend in Fargo with Sifu Neil McRitchie and other members of our Kung Fu family from Winnipeg.  There was a tremendous amount of sharing that occurred.  Spear, sword, and pole sets, not to mention all sorts of application, knife defense and more.  We encountered a little rain but not enough to dampen our spirits or stop the kung fu.

I would like to thank all those that attended for their time and kung fu.  This was not only a time to share kung fu but to share ourselves and reconnect with our extended Kung Fu family.

There are all ready thoughts of a bigger and better “training camp” next year.  Hope to see all the familiar faces plus many more.

Another Dragon Boat Festival behind us.  The day started out rather hot and humid.  The sun showing down.  Then about 15 minutes into our demonstration massive down pour.  We only got to show about half of our material, but we ended with a very nice Choy Li Fut set, be it a little soggy performed by Noah Johnson.  after many of us being soaked we decided to stay and play a little in the wet, and some cases the mud.  Over all I think a good time was had by most if not all.

I would like to thank all those who put in the time to train and came out to support Golden Leopard Kung Fu School.  Everyone did a wonderful job!

Golden Leopard Martial Arts Center and Minneapolis Plum Blossom will be meeting up with Sifu Neil McRitchie from Winnipeg for a weekend of fun and Kung Fu Training in Fargo, ND.  For those a little more adventurous some attending will be camping, but for those wanting more comforts of home there will be hotel rooms reserved.  It’s been a while since this event has been open to all students, so take advantage of this opportunity to meet and train with our Kung Fu brothers and sisters.

Training will taking place on Friday July 23rd and Saturday July 24th.  Both nights weather permitting we will socialize over dinner, fire, and maybe some s’mores for dessert at the camp sites.

Anyone interested please respond ASAP (call or e-mail) so campsite or Hotel rooms can be reserved.  We can then also make arrangements for those that would like to share a ride.

Hope you can come and join in the kung fu and comradeship.

Another Dragon Boat Festival is upon us.  Come join Golden leopard and all the other performers at Lake Phalen this weekend.  Golden Leopard will be doing a Kung Fu demonstration at 3:30 on Sunday July 11th.  We will have members of our Kids, Youth, and Adult classes showing what they have been working.  Hope to see you there.

May 22nd and 23rd we will be participating in the 3rd Annnual Passage to China Event at the Mall of America put on by the Chinese Heritage Foundation.  There will be numerous performances and activities on Saturday and Sunday from 12:00 to 5:00 each day.  Golden Leopard and Minneapolis Choy Li Fut Kung Fu School will be giving a demonstration to open the event on Saturday form 11:45 to 12:15 and a second to close the event on Sunday from 4:45 to 5:15.

The 9 week introductory classes schedule starting March 16th for kids, and youth will be:

Tuesdays            4:00 – 4:45

Wednesdays      6:15 – 7:00

Cost is $99 for the 9 week session 1 day/week.  Payment due first day of classes.

Fee includes School T-shirt for training.  No additional cost required for this introductory session.  Follow up classes will be offered for those interested.

Thank You to all the students, family, and friends that attended the Golden Leopards  3rd Annual Chinese New Year Celebration, and help make it a success.  The kids did another wonderful performance for those who attended, and they can’t wait to do more!  Gung Hay Fat Choy!
